A fairytale journey to the heart
A trip to India can be life-changing. It’s wild, exhilarating, opening and most and foremost, transforming. You have the chance to re-align, re-centre and retreat in a space that will show you wonder, appreciation and a true sense of belonging.
There is no better journey into the New Year than this one: A devotional and cultural deep dive into the arms of Mother India while being surrounded by amazing like-minded people, practicing Yoga, Meditation, Pranayama, Kriya and Kirtans together daily.
We will be traveling and exploring the most Southern state in India called Tamil Nadu. Rich in cultural heritage and home of some of the most powerful Vedic and Tantric temples in the world, this area will steal your heart with its fascinating art, sights and people. Expect visiting some of the most stunning temples, learning about rituals, tradition and local art, eating outstanding food and staying at heritage hotels that carry stories and secrets. This journey will reveal not only mysteries about India, but give you a clearer direction on your path going forward. It’s a celebration into the New Year like no other.
This Yatra is a special curation by Alexia, founder of ALKEMY Travel and ALKEMY Soul and Josephin, founder of Yoga Folks Sweden, who have met in India in 2016 during their 300h Advanced Bhakti Yoga Teacher Training. “It is a celebration, a reunion and a rejoining of forces and communities. We can’t wait to create memories that last a lifetime.”
With so much love and excitement,
Alexia & Josephin

Shakti Yatra India 2024The Yatra was my first journey to India alone and i was kind of scared to go. Both Alexia and Raj made this trip just perfect tough. We had so many great and special experiences and activities like vedic ceremonies, temple and arti visits, crossing the ganga by boat and so much more. We had unique and deep experiences that will always keep a special place in my heart. The accommodations and the food were just amazing and the whole trip was perfectly organised. Lots of love for you.

India Yatra- Fairytale Journey to the Heart 2022Diving into spiritual India was really a journey to the heart. Seeing the devotion of Indian people and diving into sacred rituals makes you finding the sacredness within yourself and the group. We traveled caring for each other, meeting on a heart level. Alexia not only brings wonderful likeminded people together, she shows you the India she loves and you can feel that. India was one of my favourite trips ever and my heart is full. FAQ
Yes! Our pilgrimage route takes us mostly to spiritual places that are often off the beaten tourist track. These places are well maintained and safe. We are also always making sure we are staying in clean hotels and take plenty of safety measurements.
You can apply online for your e-tourist Visa to India via this link:
https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/evisa/tvoa.html
You can apply for this Visa anytime after you have signed up for the pilgrimage. You will receive an email with an ETA that says “VISA GRANTED”. The ETA is an confirmation, however, you will only receive the VISA STAMP upon entry at immigration.
Alternatively, you may also apply for a regular paper Visa at your local embassy.
Yatra is a sanskrit word and means “spiritual journey” or pilgrimage. I have called my India journeys Yatras because they are fundamentally different to Retreats. We are traveling a lot, visiting sacred sites, temples and spiritual homes. We will do daily spiritual practices and hold our energy and intentions high. This is not a trip to relax, but a deep encounter with yourself and a country that has ancient roots of wisdom and will empower you to see beyond the veils.
It requires you to be open, accepting, loving and welcoming. It might take you to your limits, yet only to discover that your mind is your only limit. India helps us expand and grow. Be open and you shall receive.
Our Yatra begins Chennai and ends in Trivandrum (TRV).
You may book your flight into Chennai and out of Trivandrum International Airport.
- Airport transfers on the first and last days of the Yatra are included. Should you want to arrive earlier or extend longer, we are happy to help you arrange your hotel room and transfers.
Yes, we are sending out a packing list with the confirmation of your space on the Retreat.
Yes, some cash is always recommended as there are no cash machines in the desert. While this is an all-inclusive trip, you might want to buy souvenirs and gifts in the market and also give tips to our Berber team. Best you exchange cash right at the airport so you do not need to worry later as we are on a tightly timed adventure trip.
While India is quite colorful and open when it comes to dress code, there are certain standards to follow especially when visiting temples and sacred sites.
Make sure to pack clothes that are not black in color, long sleeves (below shoulders) and lose pants or skirts (below knees). You can also use shawl to wrap around your waist, head or shoulders when you enter a temple site.
If you do not have clothes that suit this trip, do not worry, come in comfortable outfits and i will take you to the markets on day one. You can get India clothes for a cheap price at the local markets and they will serve you for many India trips to come 🙂
